T's Ankle is Getting Better, Lakers are Not

I am just looking forward to the return of Rence. With that ankle fully healed he should be somewhere between a post injury Bernard King and Steve Austin the Six Million Dollar Man. Gentleman we have the technology to rebuild him. Better than he was before ........ Better ......... Stronger ......... Faster.

Teresa Kleindienst is Hot

Carrie Watson invited a bunch of us to go scrimmage with the UBC Women's team. I love War Memorial gym with the sprung floor that gives a minimum 4 inches extra on the vertical. J Wats, John Anderson, and Amanda showed up from our Sunday squad, joined by the twin Teresa's. Six-one Teresa played for Oklahoma Sooners and is working at UBC now. Teresa Kleindeinst just happens to be the starting point guard for the national team, and NAIA MVP in 2000 when she played at SFU. She's only 5'6" but she has awesome handle and wicked court vision.

Don't even think about recruiting her for K-League, she's ours...

We smoked UBC 78-42, mostly on layups in transition. Then again, the Lady T-Birds looked flat, probably the result of post-exam hangover. Erica Guiness, their best player, was nursing a sprained ankle and only played one quarter.

I will definitely organize a game night at UBC, hopefully when SFU comes to Point Grey to play.

Lawrence Moten Found

This is going deep.

Cheers
Jude

I'm glad Moten has work.

T Says Lakers are the Real Deal

Lets acknowledge that the Lakers are 4-1 on their current road trip after coming off their most impressive win of the year - beating Dallas last night. Kobe hits a 29 foot fade away to give him 43 points and the Lakers the win. We also got some good contributions from Kwame Brown (outa nowhere) and Luke Walton. The Lakers have made the turn are playing some very consistent D and starting to form the triangle. Look for a win tonight against Memphis - to cap off their best road trip in 2 years, and a great game versus Riley and the Heat on Xmas day.

Riles is Back

Saw the news on Pat Riley replacing Van Gundy. This was the worst kept secret since the summer. Can Riles really turn this team around and motivate Shaq-Daddy? I heard he is a slave-driver coach, running his teams so hard that guys like James Worthy had their careers cut short by injuries.

Out like Van Gundy sibling,
Vincent

Dwight Howard is a Stud

Was watching the Orlando/Spurs game tonight - and although they lost - Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson have the potential to be the best young (and I mean young cause Howard is not yet 20) inside out duo in the league. Agree or Disagree?

Vinsanity or Black Mamba - You be the judge

hey everyone...was it me or did v.c. beat up kobe for his cheap tactics. you start escaping felony charges and you think you can molest other players. talk about having the superstar syndrome. you know you are in trouble when vince "i get bumped and i cry" carter takes you on.

Are Clips for real, or are they this year's Sonics?

Are you kidding me at 8-2? Sam I Am can't have much left in the gas tank, and Cutino Mobley hasn't done anything in his career so far.

So what gives? Weak early schedule, low expectations, or are they for real?

Go Darko

Rasheed Wallace had this to say about Darko Milicic. Someone asked him about Darko wrestling with Dikembe Mutombo on Friday night and ‘Sheed said:

"I'm telling you, Darko is a Serbian gangster. Darko's got some bodies back there (in Serbia-Montenegro). He can go psycho on guys."

That's my line on Nigel, he's got some bodies back in Hong Kong (or is it Richmond?)

Dwyane is the Man

Did you guys see the highlights from Heat-Sixers? Wade was filthy, sick, nasty with the six dunks and crazy toss-it-backwards layup.

Kobe? Got his 36 but 12-35 is't going to get it done.

Lakers v Knicks

Caught part of the Lakers Knicks game tonight. Observations:

- Lakers suck, but Knicks suck even worse. I'm glad I only caught the last two quarters, no way I could have watched two hours of this.

- How long before Starbury gets traded?

- Kwame looks totally lost. If there was ever a poster child for staying in college, Kwame is him. How much better would he be now if he played say, three years in the ACC. Will he turn into Horace Grant or is he destined to be Cherokee Parks?

- Kobe looks skinnier and definitely quicker. Dude is still a ball hog.

- Odom needs the ball more. No second option, no playoffs.

Rosen has Kobe's Back

Bill Simmons is good, but I love the caustic wit of Charlie Rosen on Foxsports. Charlie is a good pal of Phil Jackson (they go way back, and he co-wrote Jackson's book More than Just a Game) so you know that there is going to be positive bias.

However, he writes killer scouting reports and he gives a detailed breakdown of games that you just don't get with the regular NBA / AP newsfeeds.

He had this to say about Kobe:

"Kobe is as Kobe does — taking a ton of shots, forcing several pounds worth and weighing in with an astonishing number of spectacular makes."

T is smiling in his cubicle as he reads this.

NBA 2006 Begins

Ball is on this Thursday, let me know who is coming. Mike and Temo, are you guys going to show this week? Terence has been trash talking all week about how many threes he plans to drop on your heads...

Random thoughts:

- Lakers open tonight in Denver. Taking bets on how many panties will be waving in baseline seats when Kobe shoots free throws.

- Milwaukee looked good on highlights last night. Who is TJ Ford and didn't he have a broken back last year?

- First coach to get canned will be Brian Hill of Orlando. I can't believe they brought him back - he was horrendous when he was with the Grizzlies. Granted, he was stuck with Big Country at center and a bunch of third stringers for starters but I blame Hill for 20 losses each year with his lousy play calling.

- Since we don't have the Grizz anymore, UBC T-Birds are the only game in town. Pasha Bains dropped 41 last Friday in Calgary against the Dinos. Anyone interested in catching next UBC home game?

If this doesn't get the e-mails flying, you guys must be in a coma.

Where we play

The Homicide Squad runs weekly at the St. Andrews parish gym in East Vancouver. Check us out on Thursday nights from 9pm onwards. Drop in fee is $5.

The entrance to the gym is on E. 48 Avenue by St. George, which is one block west of Fraser Street. Parking next to the gym is accessible through the alley, just watch out for all the Phillipino dancers driving out when they end their session at 8:50pm.

The official address of St. Andrews is 480 East 47 Ave., but the gym is located on the E.48 side of the complex.
